Fresh homegrown vegetables and fruits are always welcome at the pantry.

Follow 3 simple tips for a successful drop-off.
  1. Email at least 24 hours in advance.
Send a quick note to pantry@unl.edu indicating your anticipated drop-off day and time, plus the produce varieties you will bring.
  2. Keep them dirty.
Do not wash items. Fresh produce should be dry and in the same condition as it was harvested.
  3. Deliver during open hours.
Read below for the drop-off time and location.
Drop-off times and location
  • 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  |  Coordinate a date with the staff by email pantry@unl.edu
  • Husker Pantry @ Univ Health Center, Room 123

Only deliver the fresh items to Health Center pantry location.

Do not bring fresh veggies and fruits to the East Campus pantry location, nor put them in the small donation bins located around campus.

Highly requested items
  • Tomatoes
  • Cucumbers
  • Peas
  • Peppers
  • Zucchini
  • Summer Squash
  • Beans
  • Potatoes
  • Corn - on the cob, in husks
Items not accepted
  • Melons
  • Berries
  • Exotic varieties or hard-to-cook items
    • We appreciate the talents of our local gardeners, but exotic items (e.g. okra, plantains) do not move off the shelves quickly enough before being past their prime. If you have questions, email pantry@unl.edu.
  • Processed items
    • Do not slice, peel, freeze, can, or preserve the vegetables and fruits. Items must remain in their fresh-just-harvested condition.
